Red Alert! – 3 Quick Xmas Cleaning Tips
Everybody is well and truly in Xmas planning mode now, Halloween, Bonfire Nights and Remembrance Sunday are in the rear-view mirror. I know, I know, we don’t want to think about the boring and painful parts of Xmas, such as the cleaning, but doing some pre Christmas cleaning and planning can help ease the burden doing the cleanup with the week long hangover.
The Tree
Let’s start with the tree, obviously get the freshest tree you can find as everyone will tell you. But how can you tell it’s the freshest tree? Nobody ever tells you! Well look for the greenest/brightest of the bunch, check to see how dry it is, less the dry the better and run your fingers down the branch, pine needles should not be falling off already.
Space
You’re going to need all the space you can get! So anything that’s going to get very attention, from magazines and newspapers, DVD’s even ornaments, consider banishing them to the spare room or cupboards until the time comes to bring the decs down.
Space will be at the premium in the kitchen as well, so any machines, pots and pans you’re not going to be using, time to put into hibernation.
Kitchen
On that note, best start to bring out the Xmas kitchenware you will be using and cleaning it, cheeseboards, crystal ware like glasses, table mats and whatever else and making sure they’re not dusty and still have last years grease splodges on them! Speaking of grease, obviously this is where our shameless plug about keeping your oven clean!
Obviously there is still more you can do, but these tasks can be done relatively easily and in small chunks so it doesn’t feel too much like a chore!
